The Chesapeake Bay Foundation seeks an Assistant Program Manager/Educator to reside at one of CBF’s Island Environmental Education Centers, overseeing field programs for middle to high school groups. Housing is provided; staff must live on site during spring through fall seasons and start by the first week of October.

The Islands Educator will lead 3‑day field programs, adapt content for varied ages, and ensure safety and program quality across centers like Smith Island, Karen Noonan, and Port

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience required.
  • 1+ years of teaching experience in formal or non‑formal settings.
  • Strong desire to teach outdoors and engage students daily.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Educator on Island Environmental Education Programs and other CBF field programs.
  • Assist the Program Manager in developing and teaching 3‑day/2‑night field programs with multiple field methods.
  • Adapt program content for different ages, weather, and feedback from teachers.
  • Plan and execute summer courses for Chesapeake Classrooms Teacher PD and Student Leadership.
  • Maintain safety, oversee gear, and perform programmatic administrative tasks.
