Job summary

Copper River Family of Companies seeks an Electrical Power Controller (EPC) to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot power plant systems in support of Naval Base Ventura County – San Nicolas Island. You will work hands-on with distribution systems, generators, transformers, and substation equipment to meet DoD and Navy standards.

The EPC supports outages, construction activities, and ongoing facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Journey level knowledge of generating/distributing power in plants and substations.
  • Ability to anticipate load changes and interpret wiring diagrams for primary power systems.
  • Operate diesel power distribution systems with varying loads and controls.
  • Read meter indications to detect abnormal conditions and adjust controls.

Responsibilities

  • Control generation or distribution of electric power in plants and substations.
  • Interpret load requests and schedule power blocks; balance loads for good power factor.
  • Start/stop generators, synchronize, and clip peak loads from the grid.
  • Monitor and correct abnormal voltages, currents, and equipment temperatures.
