Job summary

NASSCO in San Diego is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and integrate shipboard electrical systems, focusing on power generation and distribution, control systems, navigation electronics, and communications within maritime environments.

The role requires creating detailed electrical diagrams, performing system analyses, ensuring compliance with ABS, IEEE, IEC, and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver reliable, efficient designs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, Professional Engineer's License, or equivalent in Engineering or Applied Sciences.
  • At least four years of practical experience exclusive of education in engineering design.
  • Qualifying skills include teamwork, initiative, accountability, and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Complete products with supervision and technical oversight at key junctures in development.
  • Facilitates resolutions to problems or technical issues using industry methods.
  • Participates in working groups, documenting discussions and outcomes.
  • Provides technical leadership to a small team on small scope projects.
  • Mentors two or more engineers and teaches technical skills.
  • Assist with implementation of department processes.
  • Navigate requirements and apply appropriate rules and standards.
  • Develop and communicate shipboard electrical configurations in compliance with standards.
