Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Ironworker Apprentice to learn how to assist journeymen in marking, positioning, and securing structural steel in building projects. This entry level role involves hands-on training on site and teamwork with skilled ironworkers.

You will help with lifting, measuring, drilling, and assembling components, while following safety rules. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be enrolled in an Apprenticeship Aptitude Program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or expected.
• Enrolled in Apprenticeship Aptitude Program.
• Able to read and interpret documents and basic math.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and willingness to accept feedback.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with proper assistance.

Responsibilities

• Select, clean, and install reinforcing rods as directed by journeymen.
• Load, transport, unload, and furnish materials, tools, and equipment.
• Keep work area clean and restock supplies; assist with tool maintenance.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.
• Measure and mark layout; weld brackets and drill holes; bolt or weld ironwork.
• Receive and offload major components; assist with crane assembly and teardown.
• Climb ladders; build relationships with diverse team members.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
