Job summary

University of South Florida seeks an IRB Specialist to apply federal regulations and institutional policies protecting human research participants. You will serve as the liaison between the IRB and researchers, ensuring regulatory conformance and maintaining official records.

You will provide consultation, help develop SOPs, educate faculty and staff, and support IRB actions through clear communication and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Master's degree may substitute for experience.
• Experience in research administration is highly valued.
• Familiarity with SB 1310 and postsecondary requirements is preferred.
• Ability to interpret federal regulations for human subjects research.
• Background check and compliance with institutional policies

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation to faculty, staff, students on federal regulations for human subjects research.
• Reviews IRB submissions for completeness and assigns reviewers.
• Communicates decisions in writing and maintains official records (minutes, files).
• Serves as liaison between IRB, principal investigators, staff, and affiliates.
• Assists in developing SOPs and institutional documents, verifies information via internal audits.
• Develops and presents educational initiatives on ethical and regulatory requirements.
• Provides ongoing consultation to the IRB to enable effective review of research.
