Job summary

University of the Incarnate Word seeks a Research Compliance Coordinator to ensure adherence to federal and state research regulations, institutional policies, and best practices. This role provides regulatory expertise and administrative support across IRB, conflicts of interest, and research ethics training for UIW researchers.

The coordinator reports to the Dean, Research and Graduate Studies and supports multiple compliance areas while upholding UIW’s mission and benefits framework for staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; two years of experience in human subjects research compliance, IRB operations, and applicable regulations.
• Ability to interpret federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
• Experience maintaining documentation, filing systems, and data management for research activities.
• Strong communication with faculty, staff, and investigators; ability to draft clear correspondence.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, COI, and research ethics principles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with IRB applications, forms, and related documents.
• Screens submissions for completeness and regulatory alignment.
• Maintains filing systems and study documentation.
• Coordinates committee meetings, agendas, minutes, and quorum records.
• Notifies Principal Investigators of actions and drafts correspondence.
• Participates in quality assurance initiatives and audits.
• Develops reports and improves research processes.
• Contributes to efficient systems to support research activity.
