Job description

REPORTS TO: Building Principal. Serves as liaison between school and Curriculum and Instruction Department.

Overview of the Position

The Building Test Coordinator has varying roles dependent upon the testing happening. For assessments not listed (DIAL, KDP), Central Office Personnel will work directly with the teachers administering the assessments, and you may or may not be asked to assist. The district recognizes that the time, care, and accountability needed to ensure smooth, consistent, and secure testing needs a devoted individual at each site. It is the responsibility of the BTC to attend all scheduled trainings regarding testing, whether they are offered by the Assessment Department, Student Services, Curriculum & Instruction, or an outside entity such as the State of Alaska or WIDA.

MAP
  • Browser check: Work with the Site Tech to verify that all student computers have access to the MAP testing browser.
  • Test Sessions: Create all test sessions for students in your building, according to the teacher who will be testing them, at least one day prior to testing. If students are missing from the roster or are rostered to the wrong class, contact Ian Acuna.
  • Accommodations: Students who receive accommodations per their IEP must be given accommodations on their MAP testing. Verify the list of student accommodations with the Counselor, SPED teachers at your site, and the classroom teacher to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Test Proctors: Each test proctor needs to be trained in test administration. Arrange training for those in your building. Test proctors must have an account and be able to log in to the NWEA testing site. If issues arise, contact Ian Acuna.
  • Testing Scheduling and Completion: Work with teachers and building administrators to ensure that all students receive the appropriate test and are tested in the given window. Schedules need to be sent to Caitlin.
  • Report issues to InfoTech and Caitlin if necessary.
AIMSweb
  • Ensure all teachers giving the AIMS benchmarking probes have access to the online system.
  • Contact Ian Acuna if teachers or students are missing.
WIDA ACCESS (Regulated by WIDA and the state)
  • Test Security Agreements: Verify that all test administrators have signed level 4 TSA's.
  • Proctor Training: Verify that all test proctors have passed the WIDA online modules for the assessments they will administer. Work with Kathleen Fisher to ensure certificates on file. Report issues to Kathleen and Caitlin.
  • Test Sessions: Work with Curriculum Department to determine the students needing the assessment and create a schedule to ensure all ELL students are tested.
  • Accommodations: Students receiving accommodations per their IEP must be given accommodations on ACCESS testing. Verify accommodations list with Student Services, Counselor, SPED teachers, and test proctors. Ensure Student Services has the WIDA Accommodations form.
  • Materials Management: Assist in ordering materials. Work with Kathleen to receive all WIDA ACCESS materials. Keep them in a secured location and sign in/out to appropriate staff for testing.
NAEP (regulated by the federal government)
  • Work with building principal to ensure the Government Representative has all necessary information.
  • Ensure all required staff completes the necessary federal paperwork.
PEAKS (regulated by the state)
BEFORE TESTING
  • Test Security Agreements: Verify that all test administrators have signed level 4 TSA's.
  • INSIGHT client check: Verify that all student computers have the INSIGHT client installed. Work with Site Tech to perform configuration check and report issues to InfoTech.
  • Student Rostering: Roster all students into test sessions. Report any difficulties to Caitlin immediately.
  • Test tickets: Keep secure until students test. Print and organize by grade or teacher/classroom. Keep test tickets for students who have not yet tested.
  • Scratch paper/graph paper: Provide for each classroom.
  • Cover up or remove materials on walls where students will test.
  • Broadcast test dates via VHF or radio.
  • Headphones: Students with text-to-speech accommodations must have headphones. Ensure enough headphones. Notify Caitlin by December 15 if additional needed. All students must be given the option to use headphones.
  • Test Administrator Directions & Tech Support Guide: Provide each test administrator with a paper copy.
  • Accommodations: Ensure as per IEP and compliance. Student Services must have signed forms.
  • Seating arrangements: Verify enough room, space between seats, established seating chart, knowledge of when, where, who administers the test. Ensure homeschooled students rostered beforehand.
  • Create a plan for disruptive students.
DURING TESTING
  • Teacher cell phones and laptops: Provide storage. Keep off/silent and out of sight. Not to be used during test except emergencies if no landline.
  • Post signs: No electronics, "Testing, do not disturb."
  • Security or ethics breach: Report security breaches and ethics breaches to Caitlin immediately and document in writing.
  • Special Circumstances: student/parent refusal, medical waiver, absent student, invalidation – Document on Irregularity Report.
  • Post-testing plan: Ensure students know what to do after finishing testing (e.g., read a book, leave the room).
AFTER TESTING
  • Collect all Irregularity Reports: Scan/email to Caitlin.
  • Document all parent refusals and send to Caitlin.
  • Collect all test tickets: After both parts of a test, shred the ticket. Keep tickets for students who have not yet tested.
  • Shred used scratch paper.
COMPENSATION

Subject to negotiated agreement added duty compensation range and meeting all "Responsibilities". Payment may be prorated based on meeting the responsibilities.
