Job Summary

The IP NOC engineer will be responsible for proactive monitoring of Transmission and IP devices across our network through the support of network monitoring systems, performing first-line troubleshooting and fault isolation, resolving issues where possible, and escalating to higher support levels in line with our internal processes.

Responsibilities

  1. Monitor Equinix network, providing updates, status, and performance reports on all network components, capacity, and services.
  2. Identify and provide first-line support for all faults on the network, following the company's standard operating procedures for fault escalation and management.
  3. Maintain and ensure full compliance with all NOC processes and procedures.
  4. Ensure proper technical documentation of all network events throughout shifts or operations.
  5. Respond to all network support calls and interface with internal and external customers regarding operational issues and network events, following Equinix's standard procedures.
  6. Generate daily and weekly management reports on network events and activities, track escalations, and monitor key performance indicators to ensure all customer SLAs are met.

Qualifications

  1. B.Sc / HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
  2. Proven experience in configuration, operation, and maintenance of optical fiber SDH and wireless network equipment.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Knowledge of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) technology.
  5. Knowledge of DWDM/OTN technology.
  6. Knowledge of PtP/PtMP Microwave technologies.
  7. Basic understanding of TCP/IP configurations and troubleshooting.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  9. Ability to use OTDR, E-Analyzer, SDH Analyzer, power meters, and other signal testing tools.
  10. Working knowledge of Huawei OSN series equipment.
  11. Working knowledge of Ubiquiti or Ceragon radio equipment.
  12. Knowledge of IP devices is a plus.

Job Demands

  • Willingness to work on a 24/7 basis depending on shift schedules to monitor network surveillance tools.
