Job summary

Cooley LLP is seeking an Associate Director of Marketing - IP to join the Marketing and Client Development team in Los Angeles. You will translate strategic marketing plans into actionable briefs, consult on buyer personas, and direct practice-building initiatives while coordinating with cross-functional leaders to align enterprise roadmaps and messaging.

The role requires 8+ years in marketing/business development with 4+ years in management, and a Bachelor’s Degree.

Qualifications

• After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications.
• Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required.
• Ability to travel, as required.
• 8+ years of applicable experience in the field (e.g., marketing or business development), with 4+ years management experience (some at the senior level preferred).
• Prior professional services industry experience and/or B2B marketing experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Plan Translation: Lead translation of marketing plans into briefs for Campaign Strategy.
• Audience & Persona Consultation: Advise Insights on buyer profiles and influencers.
• Practice Development Roadmap: Direct strategy for practice-building initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Liaison: Partner with BU and enterprise roadmaps and channel strategies.
• Personalization Logic Strategy: Define triggers and content for personalization.
• Budget & Sponsorship Stewardship: Oversee BU marketing budget and sponsorship ROI.
• High-Stakes Narrative Leadership: Lead strategy for complex pitches with teams.
• Optimization Consultation: Interpret dashboard data and recommend shifts.
• People Leader: Supervise and mentor direct reports; manage staffing and time logs.
• HR collaboration: Participate in hiring, performance appraisals, and lifecycle events.
