Job summary

Dorsey & Whitney LLP seeks an Intellectual Property Docketing Operations Lead in Denver, CO, Minneapolis, or Salt Lake City to run a high-performing docketing team and keep patent, trademark, copyright, and domain-name records accurate and deadlines met.

You will train docket professionals, refine processes with the IP Docketing Manager, and implement improvements while ensuring compliance and risk management. Strong detail-orientation and FoundationIP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of comprehensive docketing experience.
• Experience with IP docket database software; FoundationIP preferred.
• Advanced understanding of domestic and international IP and maintenance, including docketing systems.
• Knowledge of USPTO systems and resources (PAIR, Patent Center, TSDR, TESS).
• Ability to train and coach others; capable of presenting material effectively.
• Ability to set priorities reflecting job importance.
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism.
• Ability to adapt to workload changes and deadlines.
• Experience evaluating technology-based solutions to processes.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day IP docket operations and respond to inquiries.
• Ensure all IP docket deadlines are met by end of each business day.
• Oversee daily workflow of docket personnel; train and provide feedback.
• Coordinate staffing with the IP Docketing Manager for balance and efficiency.
• Train docket personnel on policies and procedures; coordinate regular sessions.
• Educate firm personnel on IP docket database usage.
• Maintain data integrity of the IP docket database.
• Troubleshoot docket management issues and implement solutions.
• Enhance functionality of the IP docket database with vendor coordination.
• Enforce best practices and performance requirements; support risk management.
• Stay current with IP rules; implement country law updates as needed.
• Coordinate resources for client intake and transfer processes.
• Provide docket-based reports upon request by attorneys and firm personnel.
• Respond promptly to requests from IP stakeholders.
