Job summary

Dorsey & Whitney LLP seeks an Intellectual Property Docketing Operations Lead in Minneapolis, Denver, or Salt Lake City to guide a high-performing team and keep our patent, trademark, copyright, and domain name docketing engine running smoothly.

You’ll set the pace for daily operations, train docket professionals, and serve as the go-to resource for docketing inquiries—safeguarding data integrity, ensuring deadlines, and strengthening firmwide compliance and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of comprehensive IP docketing experience.
• Experience with IP docket database software; FoundationIP preferred.
• Knowledge of USPTO systems (PAIR, Patent Center, TSDR, TESS) and international IP databases.
• Ability to train and coach others, including designing and presenting materials for effective training.
• Ability to set priorities reflecting importance of responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day IP docket operations and serve as first-level response to docket inquiries.
• Ensure all deadlines in the IP docket database are met by end of each business day.
• Oversee daily workflow of docket personnel, including training and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with the IP Docketing Manager on staffing and workload balance.
• Train docket personnel on policies and procedures and coordinate regular trainings.
• Maintain and verify data integrity of the IP docket database.
• Assist in enhancing functionality of the IP docket database and coordinate with vendor/IS teams.
