Job summary

Intuitive is seeking an exceptional Assistant General Counsel, IP, to lead patent portfolio management, prosecution, and IP strategy across cutting-edge robotic and medical device platforms. You will counsel on IP transactions, NDAs, collaborations, and licensing, while guiding due diligence for strategic deals.

The role requires a JD, CA bar admission or RHIC eligibility, and extensive IP experience, including in-house work. Travel is occasional; onsite in Sunnyvale, CA three days weekly.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in intellectual property law with strong patent prosecution focus.
• 2+ years in-house IP experience preferred with portfolio management and transactional work.
• Technical background in medical devices or robotics; electrical engineering or related fields also considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Intuitive’s active patent portfolio, including application preparation, prosecution, and IP strategy development.
• Support IP-related transactions: NDAs, collaboration agreements, product development and supplier deals.
• Assist with IP due diligence for strategic deals, including M&A and licensing, and negotiate deal terms.
