Job summary

Ballard Spahr LLP invites a Business Development Manager to join our Marketing/Communications team in a hybrid role, with three in-office days weekly. The BDM will shape IP practice BD plans and drive growth across clients and opportunities.

The role requires five years of legal marketing experience, strong writing and verbal skills, and proficiency with CRM platforms and BD tech. Travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of legal marketing experience.
• Experience supporting Intellectual Property or similar practice groups is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with CRM platforms, marketing databases, and other business development technologies is essential.

Responsibilities

• Work with Department Chairs and Practice Group Leaders to create and implement strategic business development plans.
• Develop and maintain a rolling pipeline of targets and opportunities.
• Provide BD coaching in group and one-on-one settings for lawyers’ plans.
• Manage follow-up on BD initiatives and coordinate across practices and industries.
• Provide IP content and positioning for pitch materials, proposals, and RFPs; lead proposals when appropriate.
• Oversee events, sponsorships, and other marketing/communications activities in collaboration with events teams.
