Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach's Department of Human Services seeks a licensed Clinician III for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The ideal candidate will conduct individual, group, couples, and family therapy for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, using DBT, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction approaches.

Starting salary ranges from $68,328 to $105,893 per year with a $4,000 hiring bonus; benefits include health, retirement, and paid leave.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree in a human services field and five years related clinical experience.
• Must be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia as LPC, LCSW, or LCP.
• Strong experience with adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and with DBT, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments (e.g., risk assessments, DLA-20, Columbia-Suicide Severity scoring).
• Develop and maintain treatment plans for the IOP and SUD services.
• Submit Medicaid authorizations and re-authorizations.
• Provide process groups, psychoeducational groups, individual, family and couples therapy, and crisis counseling.
• In the absence of Supervisors, delegate tasks, ensure safety, manage crises and ensure policy compliance.
• Monitor clients, document in charts, and coordinate with referral sources.
• Contribute to program planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
• Serve as a consultant on complex case conceptualizations, treatment planning and discharge planning.
