We are seeking Licensed Eligible for our Youth Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program
Responsibilities & Duties for Youth SAIOP Clinician:
Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and substance use assessments for adolescents.
- Develop individualized, person-centered treatment plans in alignment with ASAM criteria and agency standards.
- Complete timely and accurate ISPs, reviews, and discharge planning.
Group & Individual Counseling
- Facilitate structured group counseling sessions (minimum 2x/week) using evidence-based approaches (CBT, MI, psychoeducation).
- Provide individual and family counseling to support recovery and engagement.
- Address co-occurring mental health and behavioral concerns.
Program Implementation
- Deliver SAOP programming in clinic and school-based settings (e.g. Turlington Woods).
- Support skill-building in relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and decision-making.
- Monitor attendance, participation, and progress toward treatment goals.
Collaboration & Care Coordination
- Coordinate care with case managers, schools, families, probation officers, and referral sources (e.g., DJJ, FAPT).
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case staffing.
- Engage families to support youth recovery and retention in services.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete BIRP notes, ISPs, and all required documentation in Credible EHR.
- Ensure documentation meets DMAS, DBHDS, and regulatory standards for medical necessity.
- Maintain productivity expectations and service delivery requirements.
Crisis Intervention & Engagement
- Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate intervention and referrals.
- Utilize engagement strategies to retain youth in treatment.
- Address barriers to participation, including transportation, family dynamics, and motivation.
Qualifications and Skills for Youth SAIOP Clinician:
Skills
- Strong clinical and group facilitation skills with adolescents
- Ability to engage resistant or mandated youth populations
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate across systems (schools, courts, families)
- Effective communication and crisis management skills
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related human services field
- Licensed or license-eligible (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) in the state of Virginia, CSAC preferred
- Experience working with adolescents and/or substance use disorders preferred
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria and evidence-based practices (CBT, MI) preferred
- Ability to work afternoons/evenings to meet youth and family needs
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between service locations
