Network Operations Specialist | Fort Worth, TX | Full-time
Optomi, in partnership with a leading technolgy company, is seeking an experienced IOC Network Operations Specialist to join their team! This role is focused on supporting mission-critical cloud and data center environments by providing Tier 2 network support, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and maintaining high availability across hybrid cloud and backbone network services. Experience of the right candidate:
- Experience in network operations, data center support, or other mission-critical infrastructure environments
- Solid hands-on troubleshooting experience with routing, switching, firewalls, and interconnect environments
- Experience supporting or guiding technical teams responsible for hardware installation, maintenance, and repair
- Familiarity with Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate and FortiSwitch, strongly preferred
- Candidates with equivalent experience in Cisco Nexus and Firepower environments are encouraged to apply
- Strong foundational networking knowledge (CCNA level or equivalent)
- Experience working in data center environments, including familiarity with fiber optics, network switches, PDUs, and rack-mounted systems
- Understanding of safe operational practices in active/live data center environments
- Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including participation in on-call rotations as require
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
- Provide Tier 2 escalation support for complex network and cloud infrastructure incidents, ensuring adherence to SLA requirements
- Monitor network health and performance, proactively identifying and addressing service degradation and outages
- Diagnose and resolve issues across switching, routing, firewalls, and interconnect infrastructure to restore services efficiently
- Lead technical investigations and assist in root cause analysis for recurring or high-impact incidents
- Perform approved network changes in accordance with established change management processes and procedures
- Support hybrid cloud connectivity, backbone network services, and external/customer interconnection environments
- Collaborate with Tier 3 engineering teams, vendors, carriers, and internal stakeholders to resolve escalated technical issues
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, including runbooks, incident logs, and troubleshooting guides
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Tier 1 and Data Center Technicians to enhance team-wide technical capability
- Participate in major incident response efforts and contribute to on-call rotation coverage as required
