Job summary

Allstate in Chicago seeks a Software Developer to join the Investment Technology team. You will build and maintain trading platforms, financial reporting systems, and data integration solutions using Java Spring Boot, Python, SQL, and React.

Hybrid working arrangement: two days in the Chicago Riverpoint office and three days at home. You will design scalable back-end services, RESTful APIs, and automated tests, collaborating with analysts and operations to meet evolving needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python, SAS, Bash, PowerShell for automation and analytics.
• Advanced SQL skills across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL; complex queries and tuning.
• Backend proficiency in Java and JavaScript; Spring Boot experience.
• Familiarity with React.js and modern JavaScript libraries.
• Experience developing and integrating SOAP/REST APIs using JSON.
• TDD experience; Git for source control; CI/CD with Jenkins/Gradle; containerization with Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of web and API security; cloud platforms (Apigee, AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC best practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation scripts for data processing and reporting.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries across enterprise databases.
• Design and maintain scalable back-end services using Java Spring Boot and Node.js.
• Build responsive front-end interfaces with React.js, HTML, and CSS.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs and SOAP web services; handle JSON data.
• Adhere to OOP principles and coding standards; implement unit, integration, and acceptance tests (TDD).
• Refactor code to improve performance and maintainability; participate in code reviews.
• Manage source code with Git; support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Gradle; containerize with Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with cloud teams to deploy apps on AWS/Azure; ensure API security best practices.
• Work with business analysts and operations to translate requirements into technical solutions.
