WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Investigator III will perform complex (journey-level) investigative work. Employees at this level may work more independently than those at the previous levels, may provide guidance to other investigators,and may:

• Review investigative techniques and recommend improvements.
• Advise and/or provide training to regulated businesses.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:

• Conduct intake to gather information from callers who have complaints regarding Fair Housing.
• Determine jurisdiction and refer customers to federal, state and local agencies as appropriate.
• Draft complaints of discrimination and/or amendments and conduct investigations into allegations within jurisdiction.
• Have personal interaction with complaining party, responding party, and their representatives to gather initial facts and information regarding potential violations.
• Plan, organize and conduct investigations by personal contact, examination of records, performing desk reviews, interviewing potential witnesses and if necessary, on-site investigations.
• Issue requests for information and drafts and process subpoenas as necessary.
• Attempt pre-and post-determination conciliation/settlement with all parties.
• Recommend administrative dismissal, reasonable cause, or no reasonable cause in written reports of determination.
• Evaluate, summarize, and accurately document investigative activities and findings and maintain organized hard copy and electronic case files.
• Prepare case files for presentation during TWC formal administrative hearings or court proceedings and testify.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports while managing multiple cases concurrently.
• Complete special projects and other work as needed or assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:

• One year and six months of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise.
• Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:

• Ability to type at least 35 words per minute is strongly preferred.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
