Job summary

Oregon Medical Board in Portland seeks an Investigative Assistant to support the Investigations team. This permanent, full-time role offers on-site work with remote options after training, and union representation with SEIU.

You will help manage cases, document flow, and data entry while upholding confidentiality. The position emphasizes accuracy, medical-legal terminology familiarity, and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data.
• An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess incoming complaints to determine if immediate Board action is necessary.
• Enter information into Board database per established procedures.
• Coordinate investigative tasks with the assigned investigators and review for accuracy.
• Review medical records and bookmark relevant information before handing materials to the investigator.
• Draft documents based on investigative procedures and prepare case closure letters.
• Prepare investigative reports for monthly Investigative Committee meetings.
• Maintain electronic and paper files and records.
