Summary
Inventory Specialists maintain adequate inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing to address delivery and quality issues. They also ensure daily cycle counting and support related processes. Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, manage time effectively, and pay close attention to details.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand and be familiar with SAP.
- Conduct data entry into various software systems.
- Prepare reports for the management team.
- Have knowledge of materials, their use, vendors, and lead times.
- Support crib attendants in receiving, storing, and disbursing stock, equipment, and tools.
- Work with purchasing to prepare requisitions based on production plans, operational needs, historical consumption, inventory, in-transit inventory, and lead times.
- Track the arrival schedule of requested materials with buyers and vendors.
- Develop alternative measures for late shipments.
- Contact vendors for price quotes and secure pricing.
- Prepare various activity reports.
- Ensure the security of supplies, equipment, materials, and recycled products.
- Assign inventory/stock numbers and determine storage locations.
- Maintain records such as perpetual inventory, costs, and quantities of supplies.
- Check incoming materials for quality and proper documentation.
- Provide feedback on quality issues to buyers and vendors; return or exchange materials as needed.
- Operate vehicles and mechanized equipment like forklifts and dollies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
- At least 2 years of experience handling and issuing supplies in a warehouse or store operation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing tooling, parts, and equipment.
- Familiarity with perpetual inventory records and purchasing processes of large manufacturers.
- Proficiency with SAP, EPS, OA, and Excel.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to create spreadsheets and graphs.
- Ability to develop work instructions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train co-workers on tool crib expectations.
- Understanding of receiving and issuing materials.
- Skill in maintaining supply records and handling materials.
- Experience issuing and receiving materials from vendors.
