Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington in Manassas, VA is seeking an inventory associate to support rapid, donor-driven retail operations. You will sort, process, and prepare donated merchandise for display and sale, helping shoppers find valuable items while keeping the store organized and efficient.

Ideal candidates are reliable, able to lift up to 25 lbs, and comfortable standing and walking for long periods. The role requires basic math, clear communication, and a collaborative, fast-paced work

Qualifications

• Proficient math skills and ability to read and follow basic instructions.
• Able to communicate clearly with associates and customers.
• Able to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor.
• Stays abreast of brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
• Prepare items for the sales floor. Evaluate items to determine quality, pricing, value and salability.
• Counts number of items processed and records on official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
• Places items on hangers, places hangers on rolling rack, and transports them to the sales floor keeping similar items grouped.
• Counts pieces of clothing and records on Daily Hanger Report.
• Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
• Follows good safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
• Maintains a pace at which one is able to meet required productivity goals (quotas) for pieces processed.
• Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
• Assists in the collection and stocking of donated merchandise.
• Provides excellent service to Goodwill's donors and retail customers.
• Performs other duties as directed.
