Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington seeks a Store Inventory Associate to support our retail team with stock processing, donation handling, and merchandising.

You will transfer donated merchandise to the sales floor, help categorize items, and ensure accurate counts and logs while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires basic math, clear communication, and the ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to perform continuous standing, walking, lifting, and bending for prolonged periods (up to 7 hours – per 8 hour shift).
• Ability to lift max of 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor.
• Stays abreast of brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
• Prepare items for the sales floor. Evaluate items to determine quality, pricing, value and salability.
• Counts number of items processed and records on official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
• Places items on hangers and transports them to the sales floor keeping similar items grouped.
• Counts pieces of clothing and records on Daily Hanger Report.
• Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
• Follows safety practices including reporting hazards to the manager on duty.
• Maintains productivity to meet quotas.
