Travers Tool Co., Inc. in Flushing, NY is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the monthly close, oversee AP/AR, and drive accurate financial reporting.

The role requires strong inventory costing experience in a product distribution environment and leadership of a small finance team. Responsibilities include ensuring ledger integrity, coordinating with operations on cost of goods sold, managing cash and working capital, and ensuring regulatory and internal control compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4–6+ years accounting experience with monthly close.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• Solid knowledge of GL, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, AP/AR.
• ERP/accounting systems proficiency and strong Excel.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; on-site five days/week at College Point, Queens, NY.

Responsabilités

• Lead monthly close process and coordinate timelines.
• Review bank reconciliations and key balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
• Ensure subledgers reconcile to the general ledger.
• Produce internal financial reports including cash reporting and management summaries.
• Maintain audit-ready financial records and documentation.
• Oversee inventory costing, COGS accounting, and gross margin reporting.
• Manage AP operations and working capital optimization.
• Supervise AR, credit & collections activities.
• Govern GL governance and chart of accounts maintenance.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting and ROI analyses.
• Drive process improvements and internal controls.
