Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a capable inventory/control assistant to operate its HMMS system for stockroom materials, initiate service repair job sheets, and relay messages via telephone and radio. The role includes maintaining equipment records for preventive maintenance and managing shop material purchases with a company-issued credit card.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, at least six months of related work experience, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

High school diploma and six (6) months of work experience directly related to the area of employment.
Valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.

Responsibilities

Operate a computer using the HMMS to maintain inventory control of materials issued and received in stockroom.
Initiate job sheets on state equipment submitted for repairs using the HMMS system.
Answer the telephone and radio to relay messages or services to proper personnel.
Maintain records on equipment for preventative maintenance programs.
Serve as credit card user for purchase of shop materials.
Prepare periodic and annual inventory records.
