Job summary

Aston Carter seeks an Inventory Coordinator for a 6-month contract-to-hire in Middle River, MD. You will oversee receipt, movement, and delivery of materials to support production, maintain stock records, and ensure material availability on the shop floor via ERP systems and SOP compliance.

You will perform data entry, cycle counting, FIFO processes, and collaborate with production teams to align with transfer orders and schedules; this is a fully onsite role with a 2nd shift on the 3:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Job Title: Inventory Coordinator | 6 Month Contract-to-Hire |

Job Description

The Inventory Coordinator oversees the accurate receipt, movement, and delivery of materials and components to support production operations. This role ensures adherence to standard operating procedures, maintains precise stock records, and sustains material availability on the shop floor through effective inventory control and coordination with production plans.

Responsibilities

• Receive inbound goods on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis and strictly follow standard operating procedures for processing inwards goods.

• Ensure accurate and on-time delivery of components and production kits in accordance with production and transfer order plans and priorities.

• Sustain the supply of Kanban materials to the shop floor to support continuous production.

• Manage raw material movements and replenishment to maintain appropriate stock levels.

• Maintain stock point accuracy and ensure that the ERP system (LN or similar) accurately reflects actual stock movements.

• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between physical inventory and ERP records.

• Participate in a daily cycle counting program to verify inventory accuracy and support ongoing inventory control.

• Manage and maintain FIFO processes to achieve appropriate stock rotation and minimize obsolescence.

• Support inventory control and inventory management activities within the warehouse environment.

• Assist with shipping and receiving functions as needed, ensuring materials are correctly documented and stored.

• Follow all established SOPs to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance in inventory-related processes.

• Perform data entry related to inventory transactions, material handling, and stock adjustments in the ERP system.

• Complete additional inventory-related duties as reasonably assigned to support production and warehouse operations.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory coordination, inventory control, or inventory management.

• Experience with inventory coordinating in aerospace, automotive, or heavy manufacturing environments is preferred.

• Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; experience with any ERP system is acceptable.

• Proficiency using Microsoft products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.

• Experience with cycle counts and daily inventory verification processes.

• Background in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

• Ability to follow and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistently.

• Material handling experience in a warehouse or production setting.

• Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to maintain stock point accuracy and reconcile inventory discrepancies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or heavy manufacturing environments.

• Familiarity with Kanban systems and shop floor material replenishment.

• Comfort working with ERP systems for inventory tracking and production support.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in alignment with production and transfer order plans.

• Effective communication skills to coordinate with production, warehouse, and other operational teams.

• Ability to work independently while adhering to established processes and standards.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing and warehouse environment that supports production activities. The position is on a 2nd shift schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., working a 4x10 schedule from Friday through Monday. Work involves regular interaction with materials, components, and raw stock, as well as use of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications for inventory tracking and reporting. The environment emphasizes adherence to SOPs, accuracy in inventory records, and collaboration with production teams to meet operational priorities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middle River, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $32.00/hr.
