Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a procurement and cost management professional in Seattle to manage program financials, BOM, MVA, and NRE for custom devices. You will collaborate with engineering and supply chain to set targets, ensure timely procurement, and lead negotiations with suppliers.

This onsite contract role offers exposure to executive reviews and a fast-paced NPI environment, with heavy use of Excel and SAP for cost tracking.

Qualifications

• Experience in supply chain and program management with budgets and schedules.
• Hands-on procurement and purchase order coordination.
• Strong cost management and supplier negotiation capabilities (NPI, NRE, MVA, PPV).
• Advanced Excel skills for building and analyzing complex cost models.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and own the program’s financial and cost models, including BOM and MVA, tooling, and NRE for custom devices.

• Partner with engineering and supply chain teams to set program cost and schedule targets at a commodity level for assigned projects.

• Ensure timely procurement and delivery of components to support NPI and production builds.

• Coordinate activities across diverse cross-functional groups to mitigate issues and minimize escalations to executives.

• Track actual program costs and milestones versus targets, identify deltas, and drive corrective actions to bring the program back on track.

• Attend and lead new product introduction meetings to understand the cost implications of engineering and process changes on fully loaded product cost targets.

• Collaborate with third-party suppliers to define purchase order costs for upcoming periods.

• Drive statements of work (SOW) and product/supplier contract negotiations to support program objectives.

• Manage purchase price variance (PPV) claims and schedule delays resulting from engineering changes, component obsolescence, or forecast variances.

• Lead supply chain and operations partners to build detailed cost reduction forecasts that enable the program to meet and exceed financial goals.

• Support weekly executive product line reviews by outlining performance against budget, target and actual costs, and schedule milestones.

Essential Skills

• Experience in supply chain and program or project management, with the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and cross-functional deliverables.

• Hands-on procurement and purchasing experience, including working with purchase orders and coordinating component delivery.

• Strong cost management and supplier management capabilities, including experience with NPI, NRE, MVA, PPV, cost modeling, and supplier negotiations.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to build, analyze, and maintain complex cost and financial models.

• Familiarity with manufacturing environments and processes, with experience in manufacturing strongly preferred.

• Experience working with ERP or related systems such as SAP for supply chain, purchasing, and cost tracking.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position in a professional, fast-paced environment focused on new product introduction and ongoing product lifecycle management. You will work closely with engineering, supply chain, operations, and executive stakeholders, often coordinating with both local and remote teams. The role involves regular use of tools such as Microsoft Excel and SAP, as well as other standard office and collaboration technologies. The environment emphasizes ownership, curiosity, action-oriented decision-making, and building trust across cross-functional teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
