Job summary

The Grand Hotel at the Grand Canyon, part of Xanterra Travel Collection, is seeking an Inventory Purchasing Assistant Manager to oversee procurement and inventory control across Tusayan sites. You will manage ordering, receiving, storing, transferring, and returning items with a focus on cost control and quality.

Reporting to the General Manager, the role supports hospitality standards and collaborates with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• One year warehouse supervisor experience preferably with food and perishables.
• Computer proficiency; able to navigate Word, Excel and purchasing/inventory tracking software.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn inventory tracking software.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to deal with employees, vendors and clients.
• Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Basic food sanitation knowledge in handling perishable products.
• Knowledge of food and beverage items, delivery schedules and product specs.
• Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Fully understand and support Legendary Hospitality Standards, Xanterra Mission Statements and Core Values.
• Provide exceptional quality service to internal and external guests.
• Source approved products, monitor costs, and process daily food and non-food orders.
• Manage the full procurement cycle: ordering, receiving, storing, transferring, and returning items.
• Follow FIFO inventory procedures and ensure compliance with safety and sustainability policies.
• Inspect incoming items for quality and refuse unsatisfactory shipments; ensure SDS sheets are updated.
• Maintain stock requisitions, credit paperwork, and vendor feedback records; keep inventory templates up to date.
• Ensure sanitation of storage areas post-receiving and storing; participate in monthly physical inventory and investigate variances.
• Keep cost records for high-dollar items to inform pricing decisions.
• Assist Purchasing/Operations Managers with menu ideas and new products from suppliers.
• Participate in vendor selections and set-ups per corporate expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
