Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to drive backroom accuracy and vendor receiving, ensuring inventory integrity and SOP adherence. You will anchor product dating, cooler and freezer compliance, and days-on-hand targets across departments.

In this role you’ll collaborate with managers to optimize inbound/outbound processes, maintain regulatory compliance, and support guest confidence in product freshness through meticulous operations and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• 1–2 years of experience coordinating teams.
• Ability to work in cold, wet, and physically demanding environments.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with department managers to oversee all inbound and outbound deliveries, including documentation and follow-ups, while supporting inventory planning and ordering for efficiency and availability.
• Monitor and maintain days-on-hand inventory targets for all departments.
• Maintain accurate beer, wine, and spirits inventory records and ensure compliance with laws.
• Enforce store receiving protocols, including vendor security and backroom access control.
• Verify all deliveries, truck seals, and electronic invoices for accurate processing and credit handling.
• Partner with distribution and merchandising teams to resolve invoice, quantity, and quality discrepancies.
• Serve as the primary contact for the Maintenance Dispatch Center to enter and track equipment repairs.
• Provide courteous interactions with vendors, team members, and guests.
