The Inventory Control Associate supports the Materials Manager with Receiving, Shipping, Kitting, and inventory management activities. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting material flow throughout the organization, and ensuring materials are received, stored, and issued accurately and efficiently.
Prior professional inventory experience is not required. The ideal candidate will have an aptitude and eagerness to learn, be highly self-motivated, and demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a willingness to work in a hands-on, on-site environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with pulling and preparing kits for Work Orders and Subcontract Purchase Orders.
- Assist with Shipping and Receiving activities, including preparation of documentation, packaging, labeling, and coordination with carriers.
- Perform an initial Receiving Inspection review to ensure required documentation is present and complete prior to handoff.
- Track and follow up on items awaiting Receiving Inspection from Engineering to ensure materials are processed in a timely manner.
- Maintain stock room organization, cleanliness, and organization in accordance with 5S standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory data and perform routine cycle counts.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate Safety Stock and Kanban inventory levels.
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies and assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate inventory transactions and maintain appropriate documentation and records.
- Support Operations and Administrative staff with materials and inventory-related needs as required.
- Assist with maintaining accurate parts traceability and inventory records.
- Follow established procedures for material handling, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and workplace safety.
- Perform other duties and support additional materials-related activities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
- Prior professional inventory or materials experience preferred but not required.
- Experience with an ERP system, particularly SAP or SAP Business One (SAP B1), preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing documentation and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational, time management, and recordkeeping skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel; experience with PivotTables and VLOOKUPs preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, manage competing priorities, and adjust to changing business needs.
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This is an on-site position in a manufacturing/warehouse environment, with work performed in stock room, shipping, receiving, and office areas.
- Position requires a combination of standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and moving throughout the facility during the workday.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
- May involve working around forklifts, pallet jacks, shipping equipment, and other warehouse or manufacturing equipment. Employees must follow all applicable safety procedures.
- Requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, barcode scanner, and other inventory or shipping equipment, as well as the ability to accurately read labels, part numbers, and shipping/receiving documentation.
- Employees are expected to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow applicable PPE, safety, quality, and 5S requirements.
