Job summary

Salem Academy and College in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks a Biology adjunct instructor to teach the lecture portion of Principles of Biology for non-majors, Tue/Thu mornings in Fall 2026. You will develop syllabi, assignments and CMS content, and assess student work.

You will collaborate with the Biology Laboratory Coordinator and maintain attendance records and communications with students via the Salem College CMS and email. Office hours and periodic meetings with Biology faculty are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Biology or related discipline with at least 18 graduate-level course hours in a biological science.
• Excellent communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
• Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of the community.

Responsibilities

• Teaches the lecture portion of a course in the Biology program.
• Prepares and delivers in-person learning activities to achieve course outcomes.
• Develops course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and CMS content.
• Evaluates and grades students' class work, online work, assignments, and examinations.
• Holds a minimum of two regularly-scheduled office hours per week throughout the semester.
• Maintains and submits attendance records, grades and other required documentation by deadlines.
• Prepares and maintains course materials on the Salem College CMS.
• Communicates with enrolled students and the Laboratory Coordinator via Salem email.
• Participates in periodic meetings with Biology program faculty.
