Job summary

UPMC Passavant is hiring a Full-Time Interventional Technologist for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the McCandless location. Title and salary will be determined by education and experience.

The role includes a $20,000 sign-on bonus and four 10-hour shifts with on-call requirements. Responsibilities include administering contrast, proper patient positioning, protocol adherence, accurate documentation, aseptic technique, and clear communication with patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
• ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
• ACLS required within one year of hire/transfer into department/role.
• BLS or CPR
• Act 34 clearance or applicable state/federal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administers contrast under the direction of the proceduralist.
• Positioning and radiographic technique for interventional procedures.
• Understand patient prep, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol.
• Review history and physician orders; apply departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
• Document patient history in electronic records.
• Maintain aseptic technique and patient safety with time-out processes.
• Explain procedures to patients to alleviate fears and gain cooperation.
• Ensure exams are coded and tracked in RIS and linked to ISITE for archiving.
• Collaborate with department and other teams to expedite patient care.
• Support general radiographic procedures when needed.

ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Interventional Technologist to support our Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the McCandless location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift Details

• Four 10-hour shifts
• 7am - 5:30pm
• On-call shifts required 1-2 nights a week and rotating weekends
• Shifts will be further discussed during the interview

We are currently offering a $20,000 sign-on bonus for full-time Interventional Techs. External and eligible candidates

Responsibilities

• Administers contrast in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
• Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures.
• Exhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems.
• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.
• Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.
• Documents patient history in electronic record as required.
• Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patients fears and solicit their cooperation.
• Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system
• All exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
• Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
• Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Support other departments performing general radiographic procedures, if needed.

Qualifications - Internal

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire/transfer into department/role.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Act 34
