Job summary

UPMC Passavant is hiring a Full-Time Interventional Technologist for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab in Pittsburgh. Four 10-hour shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with on-call 1–2 nights weekly and rotating weekends. Location at 9100 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh.

A $20,000 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible candidates. Title and salary depend on education and experience. Position requires ARRT eligible/certified, ACLS within a year, BLS/CPR, and Act 34 clearance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
• Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
• ACLS within one year of hire/transfer; BLS/CPR required; Act 34.

Responsibilities

• Administers contrast per protocols under proceduralist guidance.
• Demonstrates proper positioning and radiographic techniques for interventional procedures.
• Monitors patient status and ensures correct patient identification and universal protocol.
• Documents patient history and orders in the electronic record.
• Supports aseptic technique and patient safety during procedures.
• Communicates procedures clearly to patients to reduce anxiety.
• Ensures exams are coded, tracked in RIS, and archived in ISITE.
• Collaborates with team to expedite patient care and assist other radiography duties.

ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Interventional Technologist to support our Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the McCandless location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift Details

• Four 10-hour shifts
• 7am – 5:30pm
• On-call shifts required 1-2 nights a week and rotating weekends

We are currently offering a $20,000 sign-on bonus for full-time Interventional Techs. External and eligible candidates

Responsibilities

• Administers contrast in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
• Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures.
• Exhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems.
• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.
• Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.
• Documents patient history in electronic record as required.
• Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patients fears and solicit their cooperation.
• Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system
• All exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
• Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
• Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Support other departments performing general radiographic procedures, if needed.

Qualifications – Internal

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
• ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire/transfer into department/role.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Act 34
