Job summary

Indiana University Health West Hospital in Avon, Indiana, is accepting applications for a full-time Interventional Radiology Technologist on a day shift. You will assist radiologists during interventional procedures, prepare sterile fields, and manage patient safety and documentation in the EMR.

The role requires ARRT RT(R) certification, an active Indiana Radiologic Technologist license, and AHA BLS. A call rotation and weekend coverage may apply as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.
• ISDH license as Radiologic Technologist must be current.
• ARRT certification with active RT(R) status is required.
• May obtain advanced credential in interventional radiography if applicable.
• Experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist radiologist/interventionalist in interventional procedures as scrub tech when needed.
• Set up sterile field and ensure safety and infection control.
• Follow radiation safety protocols and monitor patient dose alerts.
• Communicate within a multidisciplinary team and document in EMR.

Overview

This is a full-time, day shift Interventional Radiology Technologist opportunity located at IU Health West Hospital in Avon, Indiana.

Schedule

• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Day shift schedule

Call Requirements

• Call rotation approximately every 4th weekend
• One weeknight of call per week
• 30-minute response time required when on call

Job Duties, Tasks and Qualifications

Assists radiologist/interventionalist in interventional procedures including acting as scrub tech where appropriate. Adheres to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Follows radiation safety protocols and is aware of patient dose alert levels and escalation procedure. Understands and has knowledge of complex procedures. Demonstrates ability to determine appropriate supplies for procedure and sets up sterile field. Possesses advanced knowledge of cross sectional and vascular anatomy. Communicates and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (critical care, ED, Trauma, IP, OP, Nursing, Oncology, Transplant, GI, Neurosurgery, etc). Documents necessary information in EMR.

• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
• Requires knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during interventional exams.
• Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• May be required to obtain advanced credential in interventional radiography, if applicable.
• Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist.
• Experience as a radiologic technologist, preferred.
