OU Medicine’s Pediatric Cath Lab seeks an Interventional Radiology Technician with cath lab experience to assist physicians in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. You will prepare patients, maintain sterile fields, and support post-procedure data handling in a fast-paced pediatric environment.

The ideal candidate has a health-science background, ARRT/CCI eligibility, and current BLS; you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a post-secondary health science program as defined by ARRT/CCI, or completion of a JRCERT-accredited military program accepted in lieu of other requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Providers during imaging-guided procedures (e.g., cardiac catheterization, angiography, device implantation).
  • Maintain sterile field and assist as scrub tech during procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide comfort.

This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline.**Essential Responsibilities:***Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position.** Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization and pain management.* Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.* Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‐centric care.* Assists in preparing patients for procedures and providing comfort.* Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures* Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.* Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.* Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.* Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.* Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.* Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.* Assists with quality assurance, audits and performance improvement tasks as requested.* Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.* May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.* May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members.**General Responsibilities:*** Performs other duties as assigned.**Minimum Qualifications:****Education:** A graduate of post-secondary educational program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, or paramedic/EMT) as defined by ARRT or CCI.Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.**Experience:** No experience required.**License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:** Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.ARRT(RT), RCES or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*** Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, positioning of patients and medical ethics.* Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures* Demonstrates ability and skill to apply theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation.* Applies knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient* Strong verbal and written communication skills* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served* Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.* Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments* Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations* Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.* Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.* Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.* Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
