Position Title: Cardiovascular Technologist /Radiology Tech – Cardiac Cath Lab

Department: Cardiac Cath Lab

This position may be filled as an Interventional Technologist Level 1, 2, or 3, depending on individual experience, certifications, education, and other qualifications.

General Description

Under general to limited supervision and direction, this intermediate‑level position accepts independent clinical and non‑clinical duty assignments to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services.

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintains the competencies required of a Level I position.
• Provides safe, high‑quality, efficient, and cost‑effective patient‑centric care in a variety of settings.
• Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician orders.
• Communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members to achieve clinical outcomes and operational goals.
• Utilizes specialized imaging equipment and techniques to perform diverse diagnostic, interventional, and/or surgical procedures.
• Conducts post‑procedure reviews to confirm all required study elements are completed, documented, and meet departmental protocols or accreditation standards.
• Transfers images and data to archival systems, enters technical data/finding, and prepares study for physician reporting.
• Performs operator‑level quality control checks, cleaning, high‑level disinfecting, and other maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines.
• Participates in continuing education, professional development, and research activities.
• Provides instruction and mentors less experienced team members.
• Prepares and presents in‑service training pertinent to assigned service area.
• Performs and/or assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as assigned.

General Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications – Tech I

Education: Graduate of an accredited radiography program required. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty preferred. Candidates within 6 weeks of graduation may be considered.

Experience: 0–3 years of experience.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Must meet eligibility requirements for ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI in the cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty required by the department and be achieved within 12 months of hire date. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications – Tech II

Education: Graduate of an accredited radiography program required. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty preferred.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience. One year of experience as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional in the specialty preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI credentials in the cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty required by the department must be current upon hire or advancement. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications – Tech III

Education: Graduate of an accredited radiography program. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty preferred.

Experience: 5 or more years of experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI credentials in the cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty required by the department must be current upon hire or advancement. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to apply principles of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics. Must work effectively as part of a team, follow instructions, and report for work as scheduled. Demonstrates sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs, maintains accurate records, makes appropriate recommendations, and exercises discretion with confidential information. Capable of multi‑tasking, staying calm in stressful situations, understanding operations, policies, and procedures, and working with minimum supervision while displaying a high level of initiative and commitment.
