Job summary

Responsibilities include patient positioning, exposure factor selection, fluoroscopy supervision where permitted, image preparation, and quality control. California certifications and ARRT credentials are required along with BLS.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in radiologic procedures or one year in a specialty with ARRT certification in that specialty.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• California venipuncture and fluoroscopy certification as specified are required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic radiology procedures with focus on image quality and patient safety.
• Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
• Positions patients and adjusts immobilization devices for optimal views.
• Sets exposure factors based on patient size and body area.
• Operates radiographic equipment in various settings including OR and ER.
• Assists radiologists with fluoroscopic and related examinations when permitted.
• Prepares and processes images for radiologist review; ensures proper identification and quality control.
• Performs routine maintenance and coordinates repairs as needed.
• Maintains radiation protection practices and completes required documentation.
• Trains new hires and students; may fill in for Supervising Radiology Technologist when needed.
