Job summary

UNC Health in North Carolina seeks a Procedural Technologist to perform diagnostic and therapeutic imaging for cardiovascular patients in Cath Lab, IR Lab, and Vascular Lab. The role supports physicians in acquiring high-quality digital radiographs and ensures patient safety throughout procedures.

You will prepare rooms and equipment, verify patient history, and explain exams with empathy while maintaining strict infection control and radiation safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited educational program in health science, including but not limited to: cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic/EMT.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• On-call responsibilities with on-site arrival within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with obtaining digital radiographic images of heart, peripheral vessels and any other required structures.
• Ensures room is prepared and stocked for the upcoming procedure; sets up suite with sterile trays, catheters, wires, contrast and supplies; assists with inventory.
• Verifies patient identification and interviews patients to collect and document prior medical history.
• Guides patients through examination, explains the exam with cultural competency, and helps calm distressed patients.
• Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using knowledge of anatomy and pathology.
• Inputs and organizes patient information and diagnostic images in EMR and PACS.
• Performs daily quality checks for procedural areas; upholds radiation safety and infection control standards.
