Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Cath Lab Tech to support cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures in an academic health setting. The tech will prepare patients, scrub and circulate, operate imaging and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, and assist physicians, while ensuring thorough documentation.

This role supports education of students, participation in quality and safety initiatives, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• RCIS and ARRT CI/VI certifications preferred.
• BLS and ACLS required for clinical practice.
• State licensure as applicable for radiologic or invasive cardiovascular technologists.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and equipment for cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
• Scrub, circulate, and monitor during procedures, assisting cardiologists and fellows.
• Operate imaging and hemodynamic monitoring systems while maintaining radiation safety.
• Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status before, during, and after procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention standards.
• Accurately document procedures in the electronic medical record and cath lab systems.
• Support education of students and trainees in an academic medical setting.
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and data collection.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Respond to cath lab emergencies and on-call needs as required.
