Job summary

Virtua Health in New Jersey is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist with activities of daily living and support the plan of care under RN/LPN supervision. You will communicate with the healthcare team and families while upholding high professional standards.

The role requires basic patient care knowledge, strong communication, and BLS certification; phlebotomy training may be needed for ED positions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a PCT, CNA, RN fundamentals course, or 1 year direct patient care experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Phlebotomy training/education required for Emergency Department positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting) and mobility.
• Performs basic duties under RN/LPN direction (vital signs, point-of-care testing, catheter care) and documents changes.
• Reinforces education for patient and family on care needs and safety.
• Supports Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
