Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist at Western Toledo Preparatory Academy in Toledo, Ohio. You will support students with IEPs, collaborate with teachers, and implement behavior and instructional plans to raise achievement and social-emotional growth.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full inclusion/co-teaching models.
• Comfort in growth-focused coaching via observations and progress checks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organization and time management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.
• Experience in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers, interpreting abilities and disabilities, and assisting in intervention plans.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and write behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Relentlessly work to meet goals related to student achievement and culture.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching into daily lessons.
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
• Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities like field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
