Poplar Bluff School District seeks an Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach with practice planning, skill development, and game-day prep. This role emphasizes student-athlete growth within a positive, disciplined team culture aligned to district expectations.

The position carries an extra-duty stipend, requires commitment across seasons, and includes after-school hours, evenings, and occasional weekends in accordance with the district schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education preferred or minimum of 36 college hours.
• Missouri teaching certificate preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management.
• Knowledgeable of coaching techniques that meet diverse needs of students.
• Knowledgeable of and adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Abide by PB-RI Board of Education rules.
• Pursue licensure to drive a school bus suitable for the sport coached.

Responsibilities

• Coach participants in the skills necessary for achievement in the sport.
• Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
• Work with Head Coach and Athletic Director to schedule interscholastic contests.
• Assist in purchasing equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Maintain inventory of uniforms and equipment.
• Assist with attendance forms and insurance records.
• Oversee safety conditions of the facility where the sport is conducted.
• Establish performance criteria for eligibility in competition.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanship among students.
• Understand and apply the rules of the sport.
