Position Overview

Powerus is seeking an Internal Controls Manager to design, document, and test internal controls over financial reporting and lead Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Document financial processes and key controls
• Design controls over revenue, inventory, procurement, payroll, and financial close
• Plan and perform SOX 404 control testing
• Coordinate with external auditors on control walkthroughs and testing
• Evaluate IT general controls with the IT team
• Track control deficiencies and remediation
• Maintain the risk and control matrix
• Train process owners on control responsibilities

Qualifications

• Must be located in the United States, within commuting distance of Rock Hill, SC
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
• Experience in SOX compliance, internal audit, or external audit
• Working knowledge of the COSO framework
• Experience documenting processes and testing controls
• Experience working with external auditors
• U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)); this role involves access to ITAR- and EAR-controlled technical data

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CIA
• Experience at a newly public company
• Experience in manufacturing or defense companies
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite
• Working knowledge of government contract accounting

Candidates should have built or rebuilt a SOX control environment and taken it through an external audit, preferably at a company in its first years as a public registrant.
