Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an internal communications professional to help employees understand the work across our research and product organizations. You’ll translate technical developments, product milestones, and team priorities into clear, useful communications that connect people to the work.

Reporting to the Internal Communications lead for Research and Product, you’ll own programs, build trusted relationships with technical teams, and shape content across channels.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in internal communications, product communications, journalism, or a related field with exposure to technical teams.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with clarity and accuracy.
• Proven ability to manage communications projects from planning through delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own recurring communications programs that explain research and product priorities.
• Lead communications for defined projects, including plans, content, reviews, and delivery.
• Translate complex technical concepts into accessible stories for varied audiences.
• Build trusted relationships with researchers, product managers, engineers, and partners.
• Write and edit content across internal channels, including leadership updates and All Hands materials.
• Develop demos and Q&A sessions to convey technical work to employees.
• Maintain editorial workflows, templates, and review processes for timely information.
• Use employee feedback to improve communications and adjust formats and cadence.
• Partner with your manager on major announcements, flagging sensitive issues and decisions.
