Job summary

The City of Chicago Department of Law seeks an Investigator – Internal Affairs to examine complaints involving City of Chicago Public Safety Department personnel and misconduct. Under supervision, you will conduct interviews, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports supporting disciplinary recommendations.

This exempt, full-time role is based at 3510 S. Michigan Ave with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00am to 3:00pm.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in investigations of criminal or fraudulent activity or equivalent fact-finding analyses and reporting.
• Alternative: Associate’s degree plus 3 years of investigative experience.
• Alternative: Bachelor's degree plus 1 year of investigative experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigates internal allegations of violations of admin and personnel rules and other matters as assigned.
• Handles members of the public as complainants and witnesses.
• Conducts audio recorded interviews of complainants, witnesses, and employees to gather facts and investigate alleged misconduct and violations.

Education

Associate’s degree in Social Sciences / Criminal Justice / Human Resources

Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Sciences / Criminal Justice / Human Resources
