Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Intern to join the Microbiology Team located in Indianapolis, IN for a paid 11-week internship starting June 1, 2027 and concluding August 13, 2027. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am-5pm, totaling 40 hours per week, offering hands-on experience in clinical microbiology.

You will perform testing, analyze results, maintain records, and work with SOPs and quality guidelines while collaborating with lab staff and participating in R&D activities.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a scientific Bachelor’s degree program in Biology or Microbiology.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and ability to follow lab procedures.
  • Willingness to learn new laboratory skills and concepts.
  • Shows initiative and ability to work independently under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing on patient specimens in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Analyze test results and generate accurate and reliable results within QC requirements.
  • Maintain testing records and laboratory data in compliance with regulatory and departmental requirements.
  • Follow SOPs, laboratory policies, and quality guidelines; participate in R&D activities as assigned.
  • Assist with development, evaluation, and modification of laboratory procedures and processes.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with personnel to ensure timely testing.

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Intern to join our Microbiology Team located in Indianapolis, IN!

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm / 40hrs per week

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory testing on patient specimens in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Analyze test results and utilize independent judgment to generate accurate and reliable results within established quality control requirements.
  • Maintain testing records, documentation, and laboratory data in accordance with regulatory and departmental requirements.
  • Perform all assigned duties in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory policies, and quality guidelines.
  • Participate in research and development activities as assigned.
  • Assist with the development, evaluation, and modification of laboratory procedures and processes.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence within the laboratory.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of testing activities.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by laboratory management or the Laboratory Director.
Minimum Qualifications

Current enrollment in a scientific Bachelor’s degree program in Biology or Microbiology

About the Team

The Microbiology department at Labcorp Biopharma Lab Services provides a range of clinical trial services for clients including providing data in different formats. They are a team of 30 members working in different positions ranging from lab assistants to Medical technologists; Scientists and different levels of management.

Internship Details

Duration: 11 weeks, full‑time Dates of Internship: June 1, 2027-August 13, 2027 Compensation: Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidates Eligibility: Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
