Micron Technology, Inc. seeks a Memory & System Architecture Research Intern to develop and validate a first-principles system-modeling capability for memory-centric AI architectures. You will translate AI workload trends into memory requirements and quantify tradeoffs to guide future technology directions.

This graduate/Ph.D. role emphasizes workload characterization, modeling, and benchmarking, with opportunities to publish and collaborate with senior engineers on AI infrastructure challenges.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an MS or PhD in Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong background in computer architecture and system-level performance analysis (memory hierarchy, bandwidth, latency, scaling).
• Ability to analyze memory and AI performance challenges and quantify tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Workload characterization: Analyze AI training and inference workloads to derive memory bandwidth, capacity and latency requirements.
• System modeling: Develop analytical and simulation models for memory-centric architectures at scale.
• Architecture studies: Assess system-level tradeoffs across memory technologies.
• Validation & accuracy: Benchmark models against reference data for reproducibility.
• Quantified analysis: Produce system-level performance, efficiency, and cost analyses for architectural decisions.
• Documentation & publishing: Record findings in internal reports and contribute to invention disclosures.
