Job summary

Richard is seeking a Human Resources Intern for a paid summer program in Chicago. The internship runs from May 25, 2027, to July 30, 2027, offering hands-on exposure to onboarding, employee development, engagement, and HR operations within a growing construction company.

You will assist with training, HRIS maintenance, benefits, and recruiting activities while collaborating with staff across departments. This role emphasizes growth, mentorship, and practical HR experience.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in working with people.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle information professionally and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, applicant tracking, or other HR technology is a plus.
  • Interest in talent acquisition, employee development, benefits, HR operations, or broader people strategy.
  • Desire to learn and grow within an organization that invests in its people.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation activities.
  • Support internship, early-career, and employee development programs.
  • Assist with employee engagement, recognition, and company culture initiatives.
  • Help coordinate training and professional development programs.
  • Support performance management and career development initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate employee information and HRIS records.
  • Gain exposure to employee benefits, leave administration, and other HR programs.
  • Assist with HR reporting, data analysis, and workforce metrics.
  • Support HR compliance activities and employment documentation.
  • Help prepare employee communications, presentations, and HR resources.
  • Participate in career fairs, recruiting events, and other talent acquisition initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects designed to improve HR processes and the employee experience.
  • Collaborate with employees, managers, and departments across the organization.
  • Participate in HR team meetings, company events, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support recruiting activities, including job postings, candidate coordination, interview scheduling, and recruiting events.
