Intern - Global Line Stations Business Office (Summer 2026)

Overview

The Airport Operations department keeps operations at our airports running smoothly through planning, organization and supervision. The Global Line Stations Intern will help support strategic projects impacting United’s non‑hub airport stations across the network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as an internal consultant, providing business analyses to management of various operating divisions on challenges and opportunities facing the airline
    • This may include one or more of the following: strategy, innovation and process improvement initiatives, performance analysis and data visualization, baggage performance, change management, safety and regulatory compliance, and station operations planning
  • Potential assignments include analyzing operational performance, developing strategic plans, establishing performance metrics, and working with company organizations to analyze growth opportunities
  • Ability to analyze information gathered, interpret data from various sources, and consider available solutions or alternative methods of proceeding, as may be required
  • Support dashboard and automated reporting creation, as may be required
  • Interns are also responsible for studying organizational changes, communications, information flow, integrated production methods, and gathering and organizing information regarding problems and procedures

This internship is designed solely to provide you with skill development and valuable work experience. This role may not convert to a position at United at the conclusion of the internship.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Aviation Management, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field of study
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong quantitative and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Position is based in Chicago, IL – must be able to relocate
  • Intern duration is 10‑12 weeks during Summer 2026
  • Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of this position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in the operational environment
  • Previous experience/field of study that is aviation related

The starting rate for this role is $20.00.
