The internship provides exposure to Terminal Engineering activities, with duties spanning process simulation, modeling, measurements, sizing, equipment operations, and field operations across pipelines, storage, and terminals.

Qualifications

  • Undergrad in Civil or Mechanical Eng is preferred (Petroleum Eng acceptable).
  • Self-motivated with initiative and able to balance multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work well in a team.
  • Proficient with PC applications (Microsoft Office).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize with assets in energy portfolio and gain experience in processing, transmission, storing, and export of natural gas and/or liquids.
  • Assist with process simulation, system modeling, gas/ fluid flow measurements, and sizing calculations; understand equipment functions and maintenance requirements.
  • Support day-to-day field operations of pipeline, storage, and terminal systems.

Job description

Summary: This is a twelve (12) week paid internship program beginning May 2027. You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with an expected graduation date in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.

The Energy Transfer Terminal Engineering group supports the Terminal Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Project Management groups at the Northeast Terminal facilities (natural gas liquids processing & refined products storage). Terminal operations include dehydration, fractionation, chilling, refrigerated storage, atmospheric storage, underground storage caverns, marine operations, and pipeline operations.

We are seeking a motivated, dynamic, personable, and professional Engineering Intern for our summer program to join our team! Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The main objective for the intern is to become familiar with the assets in our energy portfolio, gaining experience in gathering, processing, treating, transmission storing, and export of natural gas and/or liquids.
  • Responsibilities will vary with location but may include process simulation and system modeling, gas and fluid flow measurements, pipe and vessel sizing calculations, equipment functions, and maintenance requirements, and the day to day field operations of pipeline, storage, and terminal systems.
Minimum Requirements
  • Undergraduate student in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred (Petroleum Engineering acceptable).
  • Self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative.
  • Position requires the ability to balance multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, the ability to prioritize tasks, and the ability to shift established priorities in response to changing business needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, sound organizational skills.
  • Proactively initiates, develops, and maintains effective working relationships. Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Competent with personal computer applications (Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Special Considerations

Previous summer work experience, college laboratory experience, and/or familiarity with process equipment (pumps, valves, compressors, process control systems).
