Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) invites college and graduate students to join the Digital Modernization Business Operations team as an intern. You’ll support financial operations, maintain Power BI dashboards, analyze expenses, and assist budgeting and forecasting to inform strategic decisions.

This hands-on role develops skills in finance, analytics, BI, and data reporting within a large public-sector organization.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent; enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree
• Intern’s major must align with the academic and functional requirements of the position
• Must have completed freshman year and be entering sophomore year
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
• Favorable performance evaluation required for consecutive summers to be considered

Responsibilities

• Compile, review and analyze data to produce reports.
• Research data for and assist in preparation of management and operational reports using fiscal and operations data.
• Produce presentations, reports, and data visuals for assigned department.
• Review reports to identify problems and propose solutions as instructed.
• Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Participate in and/or lead departmental meetings and working sessions.
